Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past week we have lived the vision of our school – Alive with the Spirit we celebrate faith, learning and life.
Fathers’ Day was a wonderful celebration for our dads and a community building event. A huge thank you to all the mums (and some dads) who planned, barbequed and served breakfast to a large number of people. We are always grateful for and celebrate our volunteers.
Our Year 3 students celebrated their First Reconciliation and are preparing for their First Eucharist next weekend. The ELC classes presented Focus Assembly, a celebration of faith and life.
We celebrate learning every day.
Sam and Ella in Kinder showcasing their learning in Maths.
Our dad’s in class celebrating the importance of reading and working in conjunction with the school to educate our children.
Teachers demonstrating lifelong learning as they participated in furthering their understanding of how to teach 'Conceptual Inquiry'.
Holy Spirit’s Choir singing with joy at 'The Big Sing' at St John VIanney’s in Warramanga.
It has also been a successful week on the sporting front. We celebrate the effort, commitment and talent of our students.

How wonderful it is to be here! At Holy Spirit we do celebrate faith, learning and life.
COUNCIL MEETING
Everyone is welcome to attend our Community Council Meeting next Monday, 9 September. It is a great opportunity to share ideas, learn about what is happening at our school and be part of ongoing planning for community events.
THANK YOU
A huge thank you to all the parents that have volunteered for various events and have helped in our school. It is your commitment, time, effort and generosity that ensures that everyone in our community benefits.
Thank you to our staff, who consistently provide our students with all that they need to feel safe, valued, respected, challenged, supported and cared for. We are truly blessed.

This week is Legacy Week. Legacy Week is the major fundraiser for Legacy and they rely on donations to support the children and spouses of injured and deceased veterans around Australia. We have badges, bears and pens at the Front Office if you would like to donate to Legacy’s good work supporting our veterans and their families.
Battle for Australia Ceremony
On Wednesday, our Grades 4, 5 and 6 Defence Students attended the Battle for Australia Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial. Our students were joined by Defence Students from JPC and several of them were selected to participate in making a wattle wreath with other students from around Canberra. The Ceremony recognises the courage and sacrifice of Australian and our Allies in the Pacific during World War II. Dr Brendan Nelson, AO, gave a memorable address about the sacrifices made not only by the enlisted men, but by the families left behind. It was a moving and heartfelt service and it was particularly special to see so many WWII Veterans attend. After the Ceremony our students were taken on a guided tour of the AWM and learnt some interesting facts about our military history. As usual, our students behaved with respect and reverence and I believe some of them even learnt something. A big thank you to Sharon for coming along and assisting with our excursion.
Remembrance Day Project
We are looking for photos of your family members who have served in WWI, WWII or other campaigns. If you had someone who served for their country, we want to know about it. Please send your photos in with their name, rank, service (and the campaign if you know it). They will be recognised at our Remembrance Day Ceremony this year.
Please let me know if your family is being posted onto a new and exciting place for next year, so I may best support your child. As usual, if you have any concerns about your child, please contact me.
