Dear Parents and Carers
BOOROWA
Congratulations to all our teams who competed in the Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival last Friday. The weather certainly made it interesting - what a wild, dusty and windy day it was! Well done to all our students. Thank you to Kellie Quirk for her organisation, and to all the staff and parents who managed, coached or umpired a team.
FAMILIES LEAVING HOLY SPIRIT
Thank you to the families who have informed us if they are leaving our community at the end of the year. However, there have been a few cases where the children have told their teacher they are leaving but as yet, the Front Office has not been notified. If you are leaving at the end of the year and have not let us know officially, would you please inform the Front Office ASAP. It is important for our planning of classes for 2020 that we do have this information and we also have a waiting list for most year levels.
KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION
Next week, we welcome 112 new students who will commence Kindergarten with us in 2020. We have many new and existing families joining us.
The students will attend a classroom orientation session in the morning, with parents meeting with staff to learn more about our wonderful school. Please make our new students and families welcome to Holy Spirit.
2020 CLASSES
A reminder that teachers have commenced planning class groupings for 2020 and will consider gender balance, learning styles, learning difficulties, enrichment needs, work habits, social needs, health considerations, emotional needs, behaviour considerations and other relevant issues. Similar to recent years, we will not be asking for parent assistance or for any form of request.
Students will be informed of their class placement for 2020 later in term and the opportunity will be provided for them to spend some time with their new class teacher. Class lists will not be sent home or displayed.
If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly on brad.gaynor@cg.catholic.edu.au or make an appointment through the Front Office.
Have a great week

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
Remembrance Day Ceremony
9:30am - Wednesday November 6
Important Notice to Parents and Carers
This year we are very privileged to have Australia’s Federation Guard (AFG) attend our Remembrance Day Ceremony at Holy Spirit School. They will be performing a Catafalque Party and as part of this they will be carrying arms (weapons). These weapons will not have any ammunition and will be handled exclusively by the AFG.
The AFG will be a very striking part of our Ceremony and will showcase one of the highly disciplined corps of our Australian Defence Force.
If you are not comfortable for your child to attend our Remembrance Day Ceremony where weapons will be present, your child may attend school after our Ceremony concludes at 10:45am.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me prior to our Remembrance Day Ceremony. vicki.walsh@cg.catholic.edu.au

Remembrance Day 2019
Holy Spirit will be holding our Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 6th at 9.30am.
As part of our Ceremony, we would like to acknowledge the family members of our community who have served in the Defence Forces. If you have someone in your family who has served for Australia (or another country) in the Navy, Army or Air Force, please send in a photo of them with their name, rank, campaign, active years – any information you have. Don’t forget to tell us who they are related to at HSP!
Photos should be sent to vicki.walsh@cg.catholic.edu.au asap to make it in time for our Ceremony.
All families are welcome to help us commemorate our past and present Military Personnel. Defence families will be sent an invite soon and it would be wonderful for you to be a part of our Ceremony.

Some housekeeping from the front office
Sending money to school
We have a number of events at the moment that require money to be sent into school with the students. Could we please ask that any money sent to school is in a clearly labelled envelope or snap lock bag with you child's name, class, what it is payment for and the amount enclosed.
Your help with this will enable us to direct the money to the right people.
It's Hayfever season
We are seeing an increase in the number of students with itchy eyes…..tis the season!!
If your child is complaining of these symptoms please advise us of your preferred method of treatment and/or supply medication to the front office so that we can help ease the discomfort that they have. You will need to sign a “permission to give medication form” which is available at the front office.
Please help us to help them.
Are your details up to date?
As we head towards a paperless society, more and more correspondence is being sent electronically. It is therefore important that your email details are kept up to date.
If you have recently changed your email details, phone numbers or address please advise the front office at: office.holyspirit@cg.catholic.edu.au
Parking reminder
A reminder to all parents that the shared carpark boom gates close between 8.15am and 9.15am during this time access is granted to staff, delivery trucks and disabled permit holders who have a copy of their permit on file in the front office. If you have not yet advised us and given us a copy of your permit, please do so, as we will be asking you to identify yourself before access is given.
Between 9.15am and 2pm the gates are open allowing access on school business. Please be respectful of the reserved parking spaces if you are visiting at this time.
The gates again close at 2pm until 3.30pm when the above access is again in place. Should you need to collect your child during this time you are requested to park in the bottom carpark.
Please be patient: if you ring the bell for access we may not get to you immediately. We will attend to you as quickly as possible however we may be on the phone or dealing with sick or injured children.
The above arrangements are in place to ensure the safety of all our students.
Late to school or leaving early?
Please remember: If your child is late to school they must be signed in at the front office. Children are not allowed to sign themselves in, likewise if they are leaving early or going to an appointment.
