Dear Parents & Carers
Further to my letter last week, please find attached a flyer outlining some information and protocols for next week, especially in relation to the before and after school procedures.
We have given our return to school a great deal of consideration. We decided against a staggered return as we already have over 30% of students currently at school. Essentially, we have already had a staged return and did not want to cause further disruption to families and students.
We will return to a ‘normal’ after school routine with restrictions as outlined in the flyer. Once again every scenario had its limitations due to our size, traffic boundaries and proximity to Gold Greek School. Our primary focus is the health and safety of our staff, students and families.
On Monday, staff will be at the bottom gate to assist students, and teachers will be outside their classrooms ready to welcome their students.
Our processes will be reviewed and modifications made in the future if necessary, especially if parents do not follow these guidelines.
A reminder that remote learning ceases on Friday. Please email me if your child will not be returning on Monday.
Once again I ask for everyone’s patience and consideration at this time.
Please read the information emailed yesterday regarding Semester 1 Reports.
SCARVES, COATS & BEANIES
The cooler weather recently has seen the welcome emergence of scarves, coats and beanies. Please remember that these items should be navy blue. Please ensure these items are clearly marked with your child’s name.
STAY IN YOUR CAR
To ease traffic congestion in the mornings and afternoons, we ask parents to remain in their car. In the mornings, students should be able to get out of the car by themselves! In the afternoon if using Drive Thru, students should be able to get in the car and do up their own seatbelt. If they can't 'Park & Collect' instead. Thank you.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back next week! To celebrate our last day of remote learning on Friday 15 May, everyone at school or at home can wear their favourite jeans!
Let me know if you have any queries regarding returning to school.
WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
Over the next 3 weeks, our school community will continue to investigate our Whole School Focus, Alive with the Spirit of Learning, by looking closely at Jesus' teachings through the parables. We will be looking at what a parable is, how Jesus used parables to teach and the lessons we can learn from the parables.
We will be able to provide our families with an update regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation when Church gatherings of 100 people are able to go ahead. Thank you for your patience during this time.
SUNDAY MASS @ HOLY SPIRIT
A reminder that Holy Spirit Parish offers a Sunday Mass each weekend via Zoom. If you would like to participate, please download the Parish app 'Pocket Parish' and connect via the Zoom link.

Traditionally, Term 2 is when SSACT focuses on our Regional and State Cross Country events in preparation for the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships held in late August. With all events cancelled due to the current COVID-19 safety restrictions and the disruption to most school’s ability to conduct their school Cross Country events, SSACT would like to offer the opportunity for schools to enter their students into the SSACT Virtual Cross Country.
Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Due to the redeployment of Registered Nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic response and the closure of schools, the 2020 physical component of the Kindergarten Health Check has been cancelled. The Academic Unit of General Practice questionnaire data, completed by parents at the beginning of the 2020 school year, has been collected as usual. The results of the questionnaire will be sent to the GP if consent has been given to do so.
If parents have concerns regarding the physical check we recommend they see their GP for assessment. For more information please contact the School Health Team on 5124 1585, or email us at KindergartenHealthCheck@act.gov.au
Firstly, the Specialist teachers are all very proud of the way students are engaging with their remote lessons and submitting their allocated tasks. We understand the many challenges parents are facing at this current time, so please know that we are very grateful for the effort you are going to ensuring students complete their Specialist lessons each week. Keep up the amazing work!
Secondly, the next round of Scholastic’s Book Club is now available. Book Club is a fantastic way to motivate your children to read new books, and what a great time to make some new purchases for the home Library. In addition, Book Club purchases help us to earn points which we can redeem for new books for our school Library.
Due to the current circumstances, this round of Book Club is going virtual, and orders are to be placed by Friday 15th May.
To access the online catalogue please visit https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/virtual-catalogue-1/
To place your order, please sign-in or register to the Scholastic Loop using the following link: https://mybookclubs.scholastic.com.au/Parent.aspx
Many thanks for your support,
Steph Meagher, David Camp and Mary-Ellen Bakker
Daramalan School tours:
Due to the Covid19 restrictions we were unable to conduct our Open Evening or Try Dara Days for prospective parents and students for Year 7 2021.
Now as some restrictions have been eased, we are in a position to offer a limited number of small group tours.
The tours will be limited to a maximum of 3 people from the one family and 10 people in total in a group. In fairness to students who have missed out on the Try Days and Open Evening we are only making the tours available to prospective students for Year 7, 2021.
Tours for other year groups, 8-12 2021, may be undertaken later in the year. For students in Year 7 2022 and beyond we hope that normal enrolment services, tours and Try Dara days will return to normal from 2021.
For current parents we ask that you do not take advantage of these tours at this time unless you are genuinely unsure of your student attending in 2021. There may be an opportunity for siblings of current students to view the school later in the year.
Tour dates and times available are listed below
Monday May 18 - 11am or 2pm
Tuesday May 12 & 19 - 11am or 4pm
