Dear Parents & Carers
Can you believe Term 1 is already over! Certainly a different term to this time last year! Special thanks to our dedicated and wonderful staff, for your work, care, and interest in our children. How fortunate we are in having a group of dedicated professionals who contribute so much to Holy Spirit. Thanks to our parents for all you do for the children at school. Thank you also to Father Mark, Fr Thon, and the Parish team for your work in supporting our families, staff, and students. Best wishes to Fr Mark who is taking some well earned leave for the next few months.
Above, thanks to our students, who brighten our day and make our job so worthwhile!
TERM 2 = WINTER UNIFORM
It is time to get the winter uniforms out and dust them off. We will be wearing it when we return for Term 2 on 20 April. We will have the usual few weeks of change over, but students are expected to wear the correct winter uniform. A reminder that school shoes must be black leather school shoes (not canvas, etc) and sports shoes are to be predominantly white.
2 May until 28 May
Enrolment time will be on us again in a few weeks. If you have a little one ready for school in 2022 or you know of anyone interested in looking at our fantastic school for their children, the enrolment packs will be available soon. We are waiting for the latest COVID19 restriction information from Catholic Education regarding an Open Day.
Above all have a wonderful and faith-filled Easter. See you all on Tuesday 20 April.
Throughout Week 9 we have dramatised the events of Holy Week to honour and share with our students the final week of Jesus’ life.
Holy Week is one of the most important periods of time in the Catholic Church’s liturgical calendar. It is tradition here at Holy Spirit School, for classes to act out the stories of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday which helps deepen our student’s understanding of the sacrifice made by Jesus and the joy Easter brings to believers.
Thank you to the following classes and their classroom teachers:
- 4 Kolak, 4 Read and 4 Jacobs for presenting the story of Palm Sunday;
- 5 Kozjak for presenting the story of Holy Thursday;
- 5 Tankey for presenting the story of Good Friday; and
- 4 Kelly for presenting the story of Easter Sunday.
These classes and their teachers committed time and energy to understanding the significance of the story they were presenting, practising until each story was perfect and doing so with great reverence and passion.
I am extremely proud of all involved.
A special thanks to our entire school community for their active participation and respectful attendance.
Holy Week at Holy Spirit Parish, Amaroo.
Please be aware that families need to book to attend the celebrations held throughout Holy Week at Holy Spirit Parish, Amaroo. The booking link is as follows: https://www.trybooking.com/BPLMVConfirmation
Last week our Mini Vinnies team made Easter cards and put together Easter chocolates for the Night Patrol Van to hand out on Easter Sunday. Mrs Quirk and her Mini Vinnies team continue to seek ways to reach out to those people in our community who are struggling at this point in time. The care and compassion of Mrs Quirk and these students continues to make a difference to the lives of many and is far outreaching.
Holy Spirit students will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday 5 May at 5.30pm at the Holy Spirit Parish Church in Amaroo.
Please return your saint and sponsor notes (sent home last Monday) as soon as possible. These can be handed or emailed to me (Mrs Doig) at school or scanned and emailed to the Parish Office (as outlined in the note).
Spirit Day will be celebrated at Holy Spirit School on Friday 30th April. Part of this day will include candidates receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Fr. Thonn as well as practicing for the ceremony.
Prayer Night cancelled: Due to government restrictions placed on the number of attendances in the Church at any one point in time, we have made the decision to cancel Prayer Night. Prayer Night was advertised in the Parent Handbook to take place on Tuesday 27 April at 6.15pm. This event will not go ahead.
Have a wonderful week

Our RAAF students joined up with RAAF students from JPC on Wednesday and witnessed the spectacular fly past to celebrate the Air Force 2021 commemorations. It was an excellent excursion and our HSP students made some new JPC buddies. What an exciting experience, so let’s hear from the kids.
Today on the 31st of March, the Defence Air Force students at St John Paul II College and Holy Spirit Primary school went to see the Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Air Force fly over. We took a bus which departed from JPC at 9:20, it lasted around an hour. We arrived and it wasn’t long until the planes started soaring over our heads. We saw many planes fly overhead, my personal favourites were the stunt planes that went into formation, did loops and flew upside down. It was exciting to see and very eventful. I’m glad to say my Dad’s in the Air Force so I didn’t miss that amazing experience.
Heather Collis, Grade 6
On Wednesday 31st all the kids from HSP and JPC in the Air Force went to the 100 Air Force Centenary 2021 celebration of RAAF. First of all we gathered all the HSP (Holy Spirit Primary) Air Force Defence Students and went to JPC. Then we joined all the JPC Air Force Defence students and went on the bus ?. Mrs. D (our bus driver) drove all of us to the City. We finally arrived at the lake and sat down. After about ten minutes the first planes flew over us.??
Here is the order the flight passes were in.
Right at the end we all watched the roulettes do their twists and turns. Then we all gathered together and had a group photo. After that we all got in the bus and Mrs. D drove all of us to JPC and then Vicki took all the HSP Air Force Defence students back to Holy Spirit School.
